A teaser episode released on September 25 has already reached #1 on the iTunes charts, demonstrating just how much anticipation there is for Simmons’ return to the medium.
Simmons is an astute and outspoken sports columnist, analyst, and podcaster best known for launching the sports and popular culture site Grantland for ESPN and his wildly popular podcast, The B.S. Report. On that show he tackled sports and culture with signature intelligence and depth bolstered by an easy interview style that invites guests to get comfortable and open up. After a 15-year relationship, he left ESPN in May of this year following an abrupt announcement that his contract would not be renewed.
Simmons quickly bounced back, joining HBO to host a weekly talk show tackling sports and popular culture in his signature style. The HBO show is set to begin next year. Luckily, fans of the B.S. Report don’t have to wait until 2016 to get their next audio dose of Simmons.
After this week’s debut The Bill Simmons Podcast will release three times a week. On Mondays he’ll bring back his “Guess the Lines” NFL segment with Cousin Sal, and on Friday’s he’ll make weekend picks with Joe House. Thursday episodes will usually be focused on the NBA.
