The traditional “upfront” is an annual event when television networks present their new shows and seasons to advertisers. Now podcasting is ready to stoke advertiser interest with the Interactive Advertising Bureau’s first Podcast Upfront Showcase, happening on September 10 in New York City. Midroll will present at the Podcast Upfront, along with AdLarge, NPR, Panoply, Podtrac and WNYC.
This is an opportunity to expose more advertisers to the proven power of podcasts, fueled by the connection between talented hosts and their growing audiences.
Midroll CEO Adam Sachs told RAIN News, “We’re thrilled to have the opportunity to tell more brands about the power of the podcast medium, and about our unrivaled roster of shows in particular. Because Midroll offers exclusively live reads, and because our inventory is finite, we are motivated to get more advertisers informed about our opportunities as early as possible — before our top shows are all booked up for next year.”
Carl Kalapesi, Vice President for Industry Initiatives at IAB, said, “The individual and intimate listening experience enjoyed by podcast listeners provides a unique vehicle for brands to connect with consumers. IAB is excited to bring so many digital audio leaders together to discuss their upcoming programming and the wide array of advertising opportunities available through podcasts.”
The Podcast Upfront Showcase happens Thursday, September 10, from 3:00pm to 7:00pm ET, at the Jerome L. Greene Performance Space, 44 Charlton St, New York, NY. Attendance is limited to buy-side executives from advertisers and agencies.
