Midroll Represents One-Fifth of Time’s ‘Best Podcasts’ List

Time Magazine just published the 2018 edition of “The 50 Best Podcasts to Listen to Right Now,” and we were very pleased to see ten Midroll shows on the list. In fact, that’s one-fifth of the bill.

We love to see great work recognized, and our congratulations go to the hosts and producers of all 50 podcasts.

Here are the shows on the Midroll roster:

Binge Mode

Time says: “…the hosts have created a set format that works, and they are willing to skewer the material they love.”

Buffering the Vampire Slayer

Time says: “the fun and addictive series has developed T-shirt worthy inside bits, like ‘Smash the Demon Lizard Patriarchy.’”

Comedy Bang! Bang!

Time says: “…remains one of the funniest podcasts out there attracting comedians like Patton Oswalt, Nick Kroll and Tig Notaro.”

Heaven’s Gate

Time says: “…Snap Judgment’s Glynn Washington elevates what could be a voyeuristic affair into a thoughtful show.”

Larry Wilmore: Black on the Air

Time says: “…Wilmore is fluent in a wide array of topics and can talk to anyone, from Forest Whitaker to Katie Couric.”

My Favorite Murder

Time says: “…in making light of the everyday terror of walking through the world as a woman, they flip the narrative of female victimhood on its head.”

Today, Explained

Time says: “…Vox’s new daily podcast has wisely focused on breaking down complex issues into simple explanations with funnier and saltier language than the Times might use.”

Terrible, Thanks for Asking

Time says: “The show is moving, surprisingly funny and always cathartic.”

With Special Guest Lauren Lapkus

Time says: “The show is entirely improvised and totally hilarious.”

Wolverine: The Long Night

Time says: “At its best, The Long Night is a classic, creepy radio drama in the vein of War of the Worlds.”
