NEW YORK CITY – Two of Midroll Media’s owned-and-operated podcasts are Webby Award winners in the Podcasts and Digital Audio category, taking top honors out of more than 13,000 entries submitted from all 50 states and 70 countries worldwide. The Webby Awards is the leading international awards organization honoring excellence on the Internet.
Top food podcast “The Sporkful,” a long-running series hosted by Dan Pashman, won the People’s Voice award for Best Lifestyle Podcast. The series brought new episodes to Midroll’s Stitcher network on April 17.
Chris Gethard, actor, comedian and host of Earwolf show “Beautiful Stories From Anonymous People,” won the Webby for Best Host.
Of Midroll’s roster of more than 300 partner shows, four podcasts also won Webby Awards:
- “Missing Richard Simmons,” the hit podcast from First Look Media won the People’s Voice award for Documentary Podcast. Stitcher was a launch partner and offered exclusive content to Stitcher Premium subscribers.
- Lena Dunham’s “Women of the Hour” won Best Lifestyle Podcast
- “Last Podcast on the Left” won the People’s Voice award for Best Comedy Podcast
- “The Bill Simmons Podcast” won both the Webby Award and People’s Choice Award for Best Sports Podcast
